Retreat Center
AMRITAPURI, Amma’s birthplace, is the heart of her global mission and a sanctuary for seekers worldwide.
Rooted in the principle of vasudhaiva kutumbakam —“the world is one family”— the ashram unites people in inner growth and selfless service.
Nestled among coconut palms near the Kali Temple, the Shanti Mandiram retreat center offers serene sea views for meditation, yoga, silence, and reflection, with halls, dining, kitchen, lounge, and showers.
Ashram accommodations are simple and peaceful, with private or shared options.

MA-OM Meditation from Amma

Amrita Silent Retreats brings Amma’s ancient wisdom to life, reminding us that the source of fulfillment lies deep within each one of us. Meditation is a wonderful way to access this wellspring of happiness.
Through Amma’s MA-OM meditation—using sacred mantras synchronized with the breath—we gently quiet the mind and turn inward to experience our own peaceful, silent Presence.

Meditation is as
precious as Gold
Amma often says, “Meditation is as precious as gold. Not a single moment spent in meditation is wasted.” She encourages us to imbibe these simple words so we can attain the greatest wealth in life – genuine and lasting happiness. She constantly reminds us that the purpose of human life is Self Realization and to use what time we have to strive for this goal.
The benefits of regular meditation include clarity and strength of mind to achieve one’s goals, growing in self-confidence, overcoming stress and tension, opening to more love and compassion and being able to remain steady in an ever-changing world.
